Be Informed & Prepared
Think of your doula as your childbirth encyclopedia. Avoid endless hours googling, your doula will guide you to reliable, evidence-based sources.
During our prenatal visits together we cover the ins and outs of childbirth to prepare you for a positive birth experience. Skills and techniques we teach include, but are not limited to, spinning babies, acupressure, counter-pressure, massage, labor & birthing positioning for comfort and guiding baby into optimal position, diaphragmatic breathing, mindfulness meditation, and visualizations. These approaches are useful in both unmedicated AND medicated labors and births. Your birth partner, if you choose to have one, will have the opportunity to learn and practice various ways of supporting.
You will also be prepared to confidently tackle the postpartum period. Our time together during the final prenatal visit focuses heavily on preparing for parenthood.
